Cleopatra’s Second Husband” a diabolically clever psychological suspense movie, arrives today. It marks an assured and daring dramatic feature debut for writer-director Joh Reiss. What Reiss is able to pull out of Paul Hipp and Boyd Kestner is amazing, and the uncanny rightness of their casting is echoed in the presenbce of Bitty Schram (Monk) an Radha Mitchell as well. In the movie demanding of the two women’s roles, Schram really nails down Hallie. Provocative, well-shot (by Matt Faw), brisk and unpretentious, “Cleopatra’s Second Husband” works up a considerable chill.

“Cleopatra’s Second Husband”, an engaging thriller treading in early Polanski territory. Reiss maintains a wry tone up to the finale, his understated style and wit have kinky rewards all their own
• Mark Holcomb, Village Voice
There’s a deadly serpentine sting in “Cleopatra’s Second Husband,” an icy, finely chipped drama that is stirred with delicious doses of deadpan irony. As the lusty lovers, Kestner and Mitchell steam up the screen…
• Hollywood Reporter
Blackly comic, thoroughly unpredictable, fascinating… I’ve never seen anything like it.
