“The acting is top notch.”
Christopher Coffel, TheCrypt
“Released on the heels of Red Riding Hood comes this better take on the fairy tale of Red Riding Hood, this is almost like if the Urban Legend and the fairy tale just merged. I got into this film. It was a fun little watch. The killings are old school, the characters held my attention, and the story worked for me.”
Wicked Channel TV
“Little Erin Merryweather” is first and foremost a cut above 99% of indie horror films. Compared to some of the flicks Lionsgate is releasing straight-to-dvd, this is an Oscar winner. The unknown cast is very strong (especially the creepy Vigdis Anholt as Erin) and the cinematography is first rate. Unlike most horror films nowadays, cinematographer Michael Marius Pessah gives a lifelike picture of the small snow covered college town that the characters inhabit. In addition, we get effective and skin crawling shots of the red hooded killer lurking around the college, woods, and the victims.”
Nick Lyons, DVDTalk.com
“…gem of a flick, which is sure to please old school horror enthusiasists.”

“Very solid performances, a great score and a different take on your standard stalk-n-slash cheapie, Little Erin Merryweather is a true breath of fresh air compared to some of the stuff that shows up at my front door. In fact, it is that very stuff that kept me from giving this a chance for so long, but damn I’m glad I did. The first thing you’ll likely notice about the film are the illustrations, which are across the board, badass.”
Johnny Butane, Dread Central.com
“Little Erin Merryweather blew my socks off! Best horror film of 2006. I ask anyone to prove me wrong…Everything was perfect in the movie, the setting, the actors, the plot.”
George Newman, KickAssHorrorReviews.com
“…the acting is good, and the depiction of a red-caped, face-painted blond as mass murderer is novel and somewhat unsettling.”
MTV’s Headbangers Ball
“It sounds strange, but this film is more a creative, “classy thriller,” rather than a “straight-up horror film.” In addition in “Little Erin Merryweather” the men are the victims for once, and a young woman the serial killer. The film flips the genre on its head while being a throwback to the 70’s style of Horror film made popular by “The Omen”. Overall the film is very powerful, and makes use of the beautiful landscape of his home state as an integral part of the film — it becomes almost a character. Worth checking out.”
Samantha Fields, Boston Herald
“I gotta tell ya that I really did like Little Erin Merryweather. Vigdis Anholt turned in a really cool performance as the mentally deranged Erin Merryweather. I guarantee you’ll get a kick out of Erin when she’s all “dolled” up. I was really diggin’ the whole “dolly/painting/child voice over” that occasionally sprung up during Erin’s frequent breaks from reality as well. It really added a creepy atmosphere to the film. I should also mention writer/director David Morwick’s performance as Peter Bloom; he did a pretty damn good job.”
Brian Harris, Joehorror.com
“This review goes back to the 90’s as this film reminded me of “Freeway” with Reese Witherspoon – focused on mythological tales e.g. Little Red Riding Hood and with strong women. Little Erin Merryweather is a really enjoyable film and a movie that deserves a second look from viewers.”
Michael Allen, 28 Days Later.com
“Little Erin Merryweather is an original and unique horror film that blends a slasher flick with fairy tale elements. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the film, from the cinematography to the acting to the script and story. The script is tight, believable and has no plot holes. Most horror films nowadays are written with just boobs and blood in mind, but not so with Little Erin Merryweather. Morwick takes the time to develop the characters, make the audience care about them (even the killer) while managing to keep the film full of tension.”
