Remember Anais Granofsky — it’s as if she’s been reborn as David Lynch’s long-lost daughter bringing a mix of Naked Lunch and Outland in this sci-fi dream come to life through starkly lit scenes and flashes of dementia. Burroughs gives great Grand Guignol as an insane matriarch, and Julian Richings — delivers trademark creep as a back alley geneticist in a town with the Pinteresque name of Junction.
• Jim Slotek, Toronto Star

BLADE RUNNER meets (Guy Maddin’s) THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD…Atmospheric and dark…the (Fielder) family make the royals look well-adjusted.
• Chris Knight, The National Post

Richly atmospheric and surreal…unsettling and unique, RE-GENERATION relates the importance of staying human in a de-humanized world.
• Allan Tong, Festival Daily

First sight of Abe’s (Clark Johnson) gabled house, standing alone in a giant snowy field, suggests “Giant” and “Days of Heaven,” and John Welsman’s majestic, medieval-style score offers a film with terrific sights and sounds.. expressive work from Stebbings, and the terrific Johnson are the elegant trimmings.
• Robert Koehler, Variety

A retro-future gothic romance, set in a freeze-dried future where water is precious and genetically-modified body parts are for sale…long on atmosphere, inventively art-directed, and liberally sprinkled with good ideas, performances and scenes.
• Geoff Pevere, The Toronto Star

Ingenious futurism on an indie budget… some inventive production design, and an intelligently mis-matched cast of six speaking parts…strong performances and atmosphere – redolent of the Polish Brothers’ midwestern American Gothic…
Tom Charity, The Vancouver Sun

The film screened at the Toronto International Film Festival a couple of years back, and is just now getting a DVD release. The question I have is why. Hats off to Peter Stebbings for his performance in this film. The look of the film is a nice touch. A sort of throwback with a mixture of different eras that pays off…

The acting is great, each character is well written and well-played and the plot never lags. The film grabbed my attention from the opening frames and it captivated me, I found I could not take my eyes off it till the very last frame and then thinking about it long after it was over. Re-Generation is a film I grew attached to and one I will certainly revisit very soon. It may not be loud or action packed but it certainly is uniquely memorable in every way. For fans of Cronenberg, Lynch and even Ridley Scott – I think you will find a new film to add to your collection.
